Tiny - A Sample User-Created Font
for Microsoft Windows.
Copyright 1987 Bob Pritchett
New Dimension Software
Tiny is a small monospaced font designed to be used at 6 pt. It
was created with FONTEDIT.EXE in a seven by seven matrix, and all
characters except the comma (,) are in a five by five pixel
block. The only font style is NORMAL, although it can be
modified by the GDI to provide boldface, italics, underline,
strikethrough, etc.
As mentioned, Tiny is a monospaced font, and thus can be wider
than other fonts, such as Helvetica at 6 pt. However, for the
most part, it is the smallest font available.
Tiny is an ANSI font, and consists of all ANSI characters from 32
to 126. (Foriegn language and special symbol characters can not
be done in a five by five block.) The default character, 31, is
a ball centered in the block, and is displayed whenever a
character not in the font is requested. (The lowercase alphabet
can not be clearly displayed in this size cell, so the lowercase
letters are identical to the uppercase, eliminating the need to
use Caps Lock when typing.)
To install Tiny, run the CONTROL application, select Add Font...
from the Installation menu, give the drive and directory to find
TINY.FON, and then double-click on Tiny. The font will be
installed and accessible in the same manner as other fonts.
Tiny is the result of playing with the font editor and searching
through Microsoft manuals. (I.E. It isn't that useful, but I had
a boring afternoon (or two) and enough curiosity.) If you find
it useful in any way, you're welcome.
The font can be modified by using FONTEDIT on TINY.FNT, and then
re-compiled with MAKE TINY. If you have any questions, I'll try
to help, but I'm far from an expert on fonts. (For that matter,
I may have made some poor selections in the Header... box of the
font editor. If you find what you think is an error, it probably
is.)
